Confidentiality
The counselling process is strictly confidential. I will never disclose your information to any third parties without your explicit consent. This ensures that your attendance and the content of our discussions remain private.
Exceptions
There are specific legal and ethical situations where I am obligated to share information, even without your permission:
If there is an imminent risk of serious harm to you or others, particularly concerning child protection.
If I am legally required to disclose information regarding a serious crime.
If I am served with a court order. I will always aim to discuss this with you beforehand if circumstances allow.
Remote Sessions
During video appointments, I ensure I am in a private, secure environment. I suggest you arrange the same for your own comfort and security. These sessions are never recorded.
Please note that while video platforms provide encryption, I cannot control how these companies manage your data. Some platforms may log calls or phone numbers on my hardware; while I do not save your details in my contacts, your operating system might link your number to our communications.
Clinical Supervision
To maintain high professional standards, I engage in regular clinical supervision. This is a confidential arrangement where I discuss my work with an experienced practitioner. Your identity is protected, and I never disclose your name or identifying details during these consultations.
Online Interaction
I maintain professional boundaries on social media and will not follow or search for you. If you choose to follow me or interact with my posts, I will not respond publicly. However, we are welcome to discuss any questions these interactions might raise during our sessions.
Data Protection
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO: ZB549909) and adhere to the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR.
To facilitate our work, I record only the contact information necessary for administrative purposes, such as scheduling. While you may share sensitive information during our time together, I do not maintain routine transcripts. Any brief notes I do make are anonymized, kept separate from your contact details, and stored securely on an encrypted device.
Data Retention
Your contact records will be securely removed once our sessions conclude and all payments are finalized. Any other records related to our professional work are kept in encrypted storage.
Your Rights
At the start of our engagement, I will request your consent to process your data as outlined here. You have the right to request access to your information, or ask for it to be updated or deleted at any time. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding how your data is handled.
